YAW is an editorial publication about RC drift culture, operated by SHMAPLEX at yawzine.com. These terms cover the magazine.

By reading the magazine you accept these terms. They are short because the magazine does little to you: there is nothing to buy, no account to open, and nothing you have to agree to in order to read.

1. What This Is

YAW publishes articles, guides, brand histories and editorial media about RC drifting. It is a publication, not a shop and not a forum: there is no reader account, no listing, no transaction and no public comment thread.

Editorial accounts exist for the people who make the magazine, by invitation only. If you hold one, Section 7 applies to you as well as the rest of this page.

2. Reading, Linking and Quoting

You may read anything here, link to any page, and share those links anywhere. You do not need our permission to link to us and we will not ask you to take a link down.

You may quote the magazine — a paragraph, a passage, a statistic — with a credit and a link to the article it came from. That is ordinary journalism and we are glad of it.

2.1 What we ask you not to do

• Republish a whole article, or enough of one that nobody needs to read the original
• Present our work as yours, or strip the byline from it
• Reuse photographs from the magazine: most belong to the people credited under them, not to us (see Section 4)
• Scrape the site at a rate that degrades it for readers, or ignore `robots.txt`
• Train a model on the magazine's text or images without asking us first
• Break, probe or try to get past the CMS sign-in

If you want to do something these terms do not obviously allow, ask at support@yawzine.com. The answer is often yes.

3. Things You Send Us

Some articles carry a form — a call for photographs, a question, an invitation to tell us about your scene. Sending something through one is voluntary.

3.1 You keep what you send

You keep ownership of anything you send us. You give us permission to use it for the purpose the form described — normally publishing it in the magazine, with a credit — and to keep it for the retention window that form stated, which is never longer than a year.

That permission is not exclusive. You can publish the same photograph anywhere else, at any time, and you can ask us to take ours down.

3.2 What you are promising us

That it is yours to send, that publishing it will not infringe anyone's rights, and that anyone identifiable in a photograph is content to appear in it. If you are not sure on any of those, say so when you send it rather than afterwards.

3.3 We are not obliged to publish

Sending something is not a commission and does not guarantee publication, and we may edit for length, clarity and house style. We will not change the substance of what you told us without checking with you.

4. Who Owns What You See Here

4.1 Ours

The YAW and YAW names and marks, the design of the site, and the editorial text are owned by or licensed to SHMAPLEX.

4.2 Not ours, and this is the important one

A lot of the imagery in the magazine belongs to other people — brands, photographers, riders, and archives. We publish it with permission or with a credit and a link to the source, and we cannot license it on to you.

So: a credit line under a photograph is a statement about where it came from, not a grant of rights. If you want to use an image you saw here, go to whoever the credit names.

4.3 Brand names and logos

The RC drift brands we write about own their own names and marks. We use them to report on those brands. Nothing here implies that any brand endorses the magazine, or that we speak for them.

4.4 If we have got something wrong

If you believe something here infringes your copyright, or an image of yours is published that you want removed, write to support@yawzine.com with the page, the material and how to reach you. We take images down on request from the person whose image it is, and we do it before arguing about it.

5. Accuracy and Corrections

We try to get it right, and RC drift is a scene where getting it wrong is noticed. We check what we publish, and we correct what we get wrong.

If you spot an error, tell us at support@yawzine.com. A factual error is corrected on the article, and a correction that changes the substance of a story is marked as a correction rather than quietly edited away.

That said, an article is a snapshot. A release date, a price or a roster that was right when we published it may not be right now, and Section 8 means what it says about relying on it.

6. Articles Written With AI Assistance

Some of the magazine's output is produced by an editorial desk that uses AI assistance under the same editorial standards as the rest: it is sourced, it is checked, and it carries a byline that a person is accountable for.

Our accuracy and corrections commitments in Section 5 apply to every article regardless of how it was produced. If something is wrong, it gets corrected — the process does not change.

7. Editorial Accounts

This section applies only to people who hold an account in the magazine's CMS.

• Accounts are by invitation and are personal. Do not share the credentials
• Keep the password to yourself, and tell us promptly if you think it has been exposed
• What you publish under your byline is attributed to you, and the CMS records who changed what
• Use the access you were given for the work you were given it for
• We may suspend or close an account that is misused, or when someone stops working with the magazine

Work you published while writing for the magazine stays published, with your byline, after your account closes. That is how a publication's archive works, and it is the same courtesy in both directions.

8. No Warranty

THE MAGAZINE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

In plainer words, we do not guarantee that the site is always up, that every link still resolves, or that an article is current. Editorial content is journalism, not advice — do not treat a review, a price or a release date as a promise, and check with the brand before you act on one.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SHMAPLEX IS NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF THE MAGAZINE.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE MAGAZINE SHALL NOT EXCEED 100 USD.

10. Third-Party Links and Embeds

Articles link out, and some embed a video or a post from another service. Those services are not ours, we do not control what they do, and their own terms and privacy policies apply when you use them.

A link is not an endorsement, and a brand appearing in an article is not a paid placement unless the article says so.

11. Privacy

What we collect and why is set out in our Privacy Policy. The short version: reading is anonymous, measurement is off until you agree to it, and the only personal information we hold about a reader is what they chose to send us through a form.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top of this page says when they last changed, and a material change will be flagged on the magazine rather than left for you to notice. Continuing to read after a change means you accept the updated terms.

13. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, without regard to conflict of law principles, and disputes will be resolved in the courts of Seoul, South Korea. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory law of the country you live in.
